Why Should Mice And Millions Of Women Consider Using A Natural Moisturiser?

There’s very good reasons why mice should be using a natural moisturiser. And many of those reasons also apply to people, including the millions of women who use moisturisers in America.
A recent study was set up to investigate whether caffeine could cause skin cancer in mice. As a part of that study each mouse had moisturiser applied to it’s skin 5 times a day for 17 weeks. The study is reported in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
The scientists were surprised to find a result that they hadn’t expected. One of the conclusions that they drew from the study was that applying these moisturisers to the mice “increased the total number of histologically characterized tumors by 69%”. Or, in layman’s language, that using a moisturiser on the mice dramatically increased their risk of skin cancer.
Lets look at this a little more and find out some more details, and in particular why the mice, and all those women in America who use moisturisers daily, should be using a natural moisturiser.
The moisturisers that were applied to the skin of the mice were Dermabase, Dermovan, Eucerin Original Moisturizing Cream (Eucerin), or Vanicream. Each of these moisturisers contains sodium lauryl sulphate and mineral oil.
Mineral oil is found in a wide range of personal products such as skin care and anti aging products and cosmetics and it is also found in moisturisers. Mineral oil is used so extensively because it is incredibly cheap. Mineral oil is a petrochemical product, which means that comes from crude oil. And mineral oil, when applied to the skin, has been linked to cancer and other health problems.
Sodium lauryl sulphate is well known as a common ingredient in many soaps and shampoos and has also been linked to cancer and other health problems as well. For this reason many consumers specifically look for soaps and shampoos that do not contain sodium lauryl sulphate. But many consumers are unaware that other products, such as moisturisers, also contain sodium lauryl sulphate.
The mere fact that these moisturisers increased the risk of skin cancer in the mice by a very significant amount doesn’t prove that the mineral oil or the sodium lauryl sulphate caused the skin cancer. Much more serious investigations would need to be undertaken to establish the exact cause, however one more fact should lead you to worry about your moisturiser, and also suggest you that you should be seriously considering using a natural facial moisturiser in the future.
This is the fact. The conclusion from the study, namely that the rate of skin cancer in the mice was significantly increased, surprised the scientists, so much so that they decided to do the experiment again using a more natural moisturiser that didn’t contain either sodium lauryl sulphate or mineral oil. And when they redid the study using a more natural moisturiser they found no increase in the rate of skin cancer in the mice.
As you can see this study suggests powerful reasons why mice, and millions of women, should seriously consider using a natural face moisturiser in the future.
There are hundreds of personal products, many or most of which contain petrochemical and chemical ingredients which have serious health concerns linked to them, and many of which have been shown to cause cancer. You may have used one of these products today, like your moisturiser.
The good news is that it’s perfectly possible to buy excellent natural skin care products which don’t use sodium lauryl sulphate or mineral oil or any of the other chemical petrochemical ingredients which are commonly found in mainstream skin care products and which, in many cases, have been linked to various health problems. These natural skin care products use natural ingredients which are safe to use and which work extremely well.
